Wright's excellent formulary from 1869s. The OCR introduced errors, so some portions require careful reading. Many of these recipes, passed down through time, form the bedrock of our modern civilization. From the page: "Wright's book of 3000 practical receipts, or complete book of reference,: containing valuable and important receipts for medicine, cookery, pastry, preserving, pickling, confectionary, distilling, perfumery, varnishing, chemicals, Print source: Wright's book of 3000 practical receipts, or complete book of reference,: containing valuable and important receipts for medicine, cookery, pastry, preserving, pickling, confectionary, distilling, perfumery, varnishing, chemicals, dyeing, and agriculture,/ by A.S. Wright., New York: Dick & Fitzgerald, [1869]" Thank you, redneckdriver, for the excellent stumble!

What a great site empowering people to become self-sufficient through well proven country living technologies: gardens, poultry, trees, herbs and such. Little by little, I have been working toward this state of independence. We now get all our water pumped from the ground via wind, import tons of carbon materials year for the compost, far more carbon than we put into the atmosphere with our limited twice weekly commute, computers and such. Our next step is an efficient commute vehicle (shooting for 150 mpg @ 55 mph, a streamliner based on moped/bicycle tech) and more efficient cold storage (winter cold capture with good insulation). Beyond that, wind generators to power the internet connection are high on the list.
